During her tenure and following participation with the Indianapolis Youth Wind [Symphony], Kayla actively participated in several pre-collegiate musical studies through the Interlochen Summer music programs in Interlochen, Michigan, the Indiana University college preparatory program and as a piccoloist in the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Side-by-Side program. Following graduation from Carmel High School, she continued her music performance studies at the University of North Texas College of Music and Butler University.
She holds undergraduate degrees from the Butler University School of Music in Flute Performance and Arts Administration and a master’s degree from Ball State University in Public Administration.
As an active flutist, Kayla performed with the Indiana Wind Symphony from 2005-2013, Indianapolis Flute Choir and is currently a flutist with the Carrollton Wind Symphony in Dallas, Texas.
Professionally, Kayla also worked as a non-profit professional for 10 years in the Central Indiana area prior to relocating to Dallas, Texas. She served in various professional capacities in development and operations for area arts organizations including the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Arts Council of Indianapolis and The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana.
Currently, she serves as an Enterprise Risk Analyst for State Farm Insurance Companies located in Dallas, Texas.
